Stand-up comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina, who recently launched his India tour titled “Samay Raina Is Alive And Unfiltered”, performed to massive crowds in Mumbai on August 29 and 30. On August 31, the 27-year-old comedian took to Instagram to thank his fans, writing, “Mumbai, I love you so much. You have given me everything. Last two nights I performed for 25,000 people in my city, I am overwhelmed. I’m grateful to every single person who came out to see me, it means the world to me, I love you guys so much, God has been kind.”
Samay’s post included fellow comedian Tanmay Bhat and Kushal Bhanushali, who rose to fame after his appearance on “India’s Got Latent”. The post received nearly half a million likes within 24 hours.

Balraj Ghai, owner of Mumbai’s popular comedy venue The Habitat, praised Samay’s achievement, calling him one of the most gifted comics in the country. About Samay Raina’s India Tour
Samay Raina began his India tour on August 15 in Bengaluru. After his Mumbai performances, he is scheduled to perform in Kolkata on September 6 and 7, followed by Chennai on September 19 and 20. Earlier this year, Samay’s YouTube show “India’s Got Latent” faced severe backlash after podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia asked a contestant an inappropriate question related to parents, sparking outrage online. The remark led to multiple FIRs being filed against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani.
Amid growing criticism and legal scrutiny, Samay removed all episodes of the show from his YouTube channel.
Samay Raina’s Apology to the Supreme Court
Following the controversy, Samay Raina submitted an unconditional apology before the Supreme Court. He clarified that he never intended to mock or ridicule persons with disabilities or rare genetic disorders. In his affidavit, Samay assured the court of his commitment to “inclusive and sensitive content creation” and pledged greater care in future performances.
Addressing one controversial clip involving a visually impaired individual, Samay explained that his comments were taken out of context and were meant to be encouraging. He added that he later invited the individual to perform at a Mumbai event, where they received a standing ovation and overwhelming support from the audience.
The comedian acknowledged that even mimicry must be handled with care, especially when it involves sensitive characteristics, and promised to ensure better conduct moving forward.
